I had a great interview with Patricia Karpas on Untangle, The Meditation Studio Podcast a few weeks back. We had a beautiful conversation about the Daoist approach to working through our traumas and personal cultivation.
Some of the topics we covered were:
- The importance of inner honesty and vulnerability
- Learning to come out of our cage so we can love ourselves and the world more
- Mindfulness, slowing down and coming into presence with ourselves
- Inner honesty vs judgement of self or other
- The beauty of including the entirety of the human experience – physical, emotional, spirituality
- The importance and power of side-processing before we approach our deeper traumas or triggers
- The practical application of psycho-neuro-immunology and its relationship to meditation
- Getting to the source of our triggers vs just learning to cope with them
- Cultivate don’t medicate – take medicines to help yourself learn vs numbing to difficult experiences
- The relationship between the Daoist approach to meditation and Chinese medicine
- Depression/Suicide – latency of our emotional experiences, not keeping things trapped inside and the relationship to depression, suicide
- Inner judgement in the modern world, the loss of community for sacred space to help us process
- The separation between physical, emotional and spiritual lives being intrinsically unhealthy – not natural to humans
- Over medication, diets, side-effects…
- Latency – toxicity over time… societal pains — depression/suicide/shooting
- The 9 Palaces and our life journey – what we came in with (DNA and personality) and our big life events
- Social and emotional patterning in our lives vs our unique journey – DNA (jing) and Spirit (shen)
- Turning our deeper wounds into our deepest medicine so that we come out even more whole, integrated, and healthy
- Holding space for our partner in their imperfections (like us) and maintaining our boundaries
- Honoring the right for our partner to have their journey but not taking on their journey
- Watching for should/should not statements – seeing how our judgment leaks through and pollutes our interactions
